Tony Addison

Chief Economist / Deputy Director, UNU-WIDER, Helsinki

Tony is the Chief Economist/Deputy Director of the United Nations University’s World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) in Helsinki, Finland. He was previously Professor of Development Studies and Executive Director of the Brooks World Poverty Institute, Manchester University. He has worked extensively on economic policy with governments as well as bilateral and multilateral agencies. He has published widely in books and journals on issues of development finance, debt relief, fiscal policy, poverty dynamics, and post-conflict reconstruction. His latest book is Extractive Industries: The Management of Resources as a Driver of Sustainable Development (Oxford University Press, Forthcoming September 2018).
